What a great site.  

My family believes we are direct descendants of Charles Carroll, because our great grandparents always remarked that he was their relative - the only Irish signer of the Declaration of Independence. Bishop John Carroll (which we believe was his brother?)founded Georgetown and went on to become the first Archbishop of the U.S., and as such, had no direct decendants. My family traces its lineage to a male McKay who married a female Dugan in and around 1870. This Dugan's grandfather was Charles (unless all decendants were first borns - then he would likely have been her great grandfather). We have lost the middle generation(s). Does anyone know the names and birthyears of any of Charles' children? Would appreciate any leads. 

My grandmother Margaret Carroll married my grandfather Bartholomew Kiely. Their first child,Ellen was born in Fountainstown, Cork in 1895. I was wondering if I belong here and also if any one would have info. on the Carroll side of my family Please contact me @ the above e-mail address

I am very impressed with your web site and would like more information on your organization - From what I have learned, I am a descendent from Jacob Carroll 1805-1858 - one of five brothers (George, Daniel, Jacob, William, and John Carroll) that arrived from Ireland and originally settled in North Carolina. Really interesting but I don't know quite where to find my place in all of this. I know that my Grandfather's family came from Ireland in the potato famine and it was said that the last name was changed at that time from O'Carroll to Carroll. My grandfather's name was William Carroll and I think we have relations that are close that live in ILL. 

Very interesting. A great great grandfather left Ireland in the 1840's, name of Patrick, wife Mary Carroll. They lived on Deerfield Farm, Estate of Lord Tyrone, Galway, Ireland. My great grandmother was Mary Carroll. We have little more than that on the family in Ireland. Nice to see there are so many Carroll's (O'Carroll's)
