I have been very much involved in my family history and genealogy and have traced several sides of the family to Ireland. I have just begun to take an interest in clans and would like to learn more.

I enjoyed this site very much. I am helping my cousin, who lives in Ireland, with our family history in the USA. It is very time consuming and there is so much I don't know (which I didn't realize).  

My Great-Grandfather was Michael J. Carroll, married to Mary Gallagher, I believe they were married in Ireland prior to 1885. Their first son John born in May 1885 might have been born in Ireland or in transit to America. Any info on connection would be appreciated. Our family loved your Web Site.

Found this site on St. Patrick's Day, 1999! My family had no idea we have Irish roots. My grandfather, Frances James Carroll, we believe was born in Illinois, then moved and raised a large family in Kalkaska MI. My father Rex (84) is the only surviving sibling. Now I know why I feel drawn to Ireland.

A gggrandfather of mine was John Carroll from Borriso Leigh, Tipperary. He left Ireland in 1814. He eventually arrived at Mount Desert Island, ME. where he married & raised a large family. It's Easter time and Noirin is being baptised at Divine Savior in Orangevale in California. We are going to get married at the same church on the 10th which is next week end. Happy days indeed ay. Thank you for creating this webb sight! My great grandparents are direct decendants of Charles Carroll, and I have been driving myself crazy looking into English history. In America it is easy to feel like a homeless person with divorce and the rate in which we all move. It has been important for me to find my families of origin in order to feel a sence of belonging.
I must say this is a case for genetic memory as my favorite music is Irish and I LOVE pre- christian Irish history and myth.

I am a UK resident who believes he has a link to the Clan Cian and the O’Carroll’s of Eile via his mother whose maiden name was Purcell. My grandfather Purcell came from Eire (Tipperary I think) in the late 1900s. I am very very proud of my Irish ancestry. I wished to preserve both my Irish forebears and my father’s surname (Lee) so I officially joined both surnames together to produce my surname Purcell-Lee.

I would like any information you have on the Purcell family name in Tipperary or Offaly please.

Interesting to find some non-Japanese O'Hara's.
Most O'Hara's in this part of the world are ohara.
Wonder if there is any connection between the Irish
O'Hara and the Japanese Ohara?
