Hi to all The Clan,
Tonight, through this site, I have learned that I too am a part of this great Clan. I live in South West England, my father was a Cork man, my grandfather from Tipperary.
Good luck and good fortune to you all.

This is an absolutely great web site. You guys did an awsome job. I have been looking for info on my family name for a while now and I stumbled across this. It doesn't just give me some info it gives me the whole history of my name and and ancestors. I had no idea I was part of such a noble clan let alone a very powerfull and well known one. It just gives me butterflies in my stomach, I am so excited and amazed at what I have found. I hope some day to visit Ireland and see the land that my ancient ancestors once lived on. Keep up the GREAT work on this site. Oh, and one more thing. I noticed a few pages with some history on the Crest of the Carroll's and it is slightly different. I am just wondering which one is the acurate one as of now.

Our earliest ancestors, Shannons, likely left Ireland circa 1450-1495, going to Luxembourg. In Luxembourg, the spelling changed to Schanen. In 1851, our direct family came to Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. Until a few months ago, we had no idea we were Irish. In the USA, we have also located direct relatives who resumed the Irish given names and put an 'o' back in the surname, e.g., Patrick Schanon. This is a whole "new world" of genealogy for us!

I had the opportunity to meet some of my fellow clansmen this past year at the Scottish Festival in Salt Lake City. Among those whom I met was the Regional Chieftain 'Patrick J.H. Durnin'. I look forward to becoming a full lifetime member of the Clan Cian, and enjoying it's great benefits.

Dia dhuit Everyone.
Angels Camp located near Sonora, Ca. In the green rolling hills that God Himself set aside, for the best Celtic game on the west coast of Califorina.
It will be happening this very week-end of March the 16th-18th.( the 16th being childrens day) That's right, over St Patricks day.
There will be lots' of music everywhere. The Clans will be there and there will be many, many things to see and do for the whole family.
Get there early for every year more people find it.
Stop by the Clan tent and say hi on your way to see the athletes throw the cabers and stones. As we will have men and women of Cian there. Cheer them on for us.
There will also be a 16th centry Irish clan at the game(reinactment), no we didn't find a time machine.
Members of the Clan are in that clan too. Seems we are all over the place ay? So just go and have a great time.
But as you travel to the game remember the word "Waterhound" There is were you will find The Chief Elie O'Carroll and his Lady Gracie.
Slan

I was doing a little research to find which tartan I should have my kilt made in and I was told that the Dooleys (formerly O'Dooleys) belonged to Clan Cian. I was wondering if anyone had any information on the linkage. Please email me if you do.

Hi Clan! I ran across this site quite by accident while perusing a Carroll surname message board, and boy am I happy I did! My earliest traceable ancestor is Luke Carroll, b.abt 1771 (location unknown). He migrated to Thorold, Ontario about 1790, where he lived till his death in 1836. I would love to be able to trace his line back to Ireland. Any information would be deeply appreciated. This is a wonderful website! I can't believe all the information I have learned from here that previously was totally unknown to me! Thanks very much Chief of Eile!

Dear Lady Gracy and Eile, Chief of Eile,
Greetings from clan in Pine Grove. My husband and I are looking forward to the up coming events and games. Last year in Angels Camp we joined Clan Cian. We are both looking forward to getting involved. I have a few questions if you dont mind? William, my beloved has not purchased his kilt as of yet, can he compete in the games? We also have two sons ages 19 and 18 they to would like to play. I hope this was the right place to write I have never done this before. Hope to meet you and yours.
