My husband knows about his deep Amer. Scottish roots. It's good to know I have some roots too. My father died befor I could find out any background, but he insisted his grandparents were Irish.Who,why what were the O'dell's in Ireland? I hope someone knows.

Also to ask you all to raise a glass to my brother Sean who wrote for this site and passed away last Nov., It was really great running across that just now. Slainte'

Lovely site!! My mothers maiden name was Carroll and I am trying very hard to trace her name back beyond her grandfather, Elic Scott Carroll from Meadville, PA. It's excting to know that the connection is there because of the name--it's simply a matter of persisting with the research! I'd be delighted to hear from anyone who might have some leads. Elic's father's name is thought to have been Charles D married to Elizabeth Cotton.
Fascinating historical notes on this site!!!! It's what I enjoy most about genealogy I think----the family involvement in events makes it come alive much more!!! thanks so much for all the work that has gone into this and all the information available here! This is a REAL find!!! I am VERY eager to learn more about our family's connection with this name!!!! I will definitely join this group!!!! Hope to hear about the 2001 gathering!

It is almost here. Two more days Angels Camp, Ca. game I am talking about. This year there will be two Irish Chiefs there . One being The O'Carroll and the other one being The O'Brien. This year it is a three day game. The 17th-19th of March. Bands, bands and more bands. Plus all kinds of food and trinkets to buy. But most of all The Clan Chiefs and Tanis. Then also all those new people that will find us there. We will also see a group called Ian Abrach which are 15th century Scotts that have their cousins from the Island of Raugh Erin visiting. The wild Irish wearing clothes from the era. Write to me if you want to know more.
Slan everyone
Seamus

I am the ggranddaughter of Thomas C. Carroll, who settled in New Philadelphia Pa. in the mid-1800's along with his wife, Elizabeth Devlin. If anyone recognizes a linkage to this line, please please email me. No records are available to me in the parish they belonged to because the parish priest won't permit searches. Family history mentions County Cork, but this is not substantiated. Thank you!

What a great site! I have so much research to do, and this really helps a lot. My family was O'Carroll, they dropped the "O", and settled in New York and Scranton, PA. I will be visiting this site often.
