My Great Grandfather's name was Michael Carroll, he married Catherine McLoughlin. I'm not sure where in Ireland their daughter Dorothy Catherine Carroll came to the US in the early 1900's or teens. I don't know if her parents came or stayed in Ireland.

My husband is REALLY in to the history of his family. Watching him get excited learning about his name (Doyle). I wanted to check-out my name. Recently I have read numerous historical fiction novels, based on the life of Brian Boru, which started me thinking of my own Irish ancestry. This site is an amazing tool, even though I'm not quite sure where my Irish blood comes from. I can see the proud history of the Irish clans, and would like very much to some day trace my roots. Loved visiting your site. Any info you have on the Carrolls that emigrated to the colonies around 1656 would be appreciated. They came to the part of Massachusetts which is now the state of Maine. 

I was unaware that the information I was seeking on the Carroll,O'Carroll, and McCarroll clan history was so readily available. I enjoyed looking through this site and I really am interested in finding out if my husband is related to this clan. His family I believe at the momment came from Ulster. I am the great granddaughter of Mary Mahon, born ca 1846 in County Roscommon. As far as we know she was the daughter of Owen Mahon & wife Bridget--? maybe Kelly. My maternal gr. m. was Mary Ann Sheehan. I live in Illinois. 

Researching Irish origins for the names Kines, Kynes, O'Kyne, O Cadhain. Gr Gr Grandfather was William Kines (b.1794, Armagh), suspect family from Connacht/Galway. I welcome any info on possible connections prior to 1794. Noticed a name in The Eugenians of Desmond List. What can you tell me about the McKynery name?
