I see a lot of information showing Fitzpatrick's Mac Gilpatrick and Fitch as subclan of Carroll in Ossory. Where do I fnd what the Fitzpatrick (Mac Giolla Padraig) tartan looks like and how do you explain the link between Carroll and Fitzpatrick being the Son of the follower of (Saint) Patrick.

I am keenly interested in how this all fits (or should I say Fitz) together.

I believe very deeply in preserving family history but unfortunately my family has not been too interested in knowing where they came from. Thanks for your web page, my grand mother was Marie Carroll Kennedy, her father was Richard Paul Carroll. I am in the process of researching further, all I know so far is that his father married Mary Courtney in County South Ireland prior to landing in New Orleans. Have a great day. :-)

My connection:
Martin and Elizabeth Carroll came to the U.S. prior to 1850 and settled in Pottsville, PA.

They had 9 children, one of which was my gr-gr-grandmother, Bridget Carroll (Williams)

The whole family with the exception of Bridget moved to Cinncinati sometime between 1880-1890.

Martin died in Cinncinati in February 7th or 8th, 1896.

I cannot find the family in Cinncinati nor any information on Martin's death.

Born 9/15/1849 in Emily Township, Canada.
Married to Bridget Moriarity in 9/29/1878 in Stephenson County,IL
Died 5/9/1936 in Freeport, IL
Son of Timothy and Bridget Carroll.  

My Carrolls are Annie Carroll married Thomas Birmingham. Place unknown and my Grandmother is Margaret Birmingham her wedding banns say born in Co. Galway.  

So happy to know others of the Carroll Clan and the work that has been done in preservation of data so we can all "remember."

We were called "The Iron Men" by the High Kings because we brought Iron weapons to Ireland with us.  

I'm still in the process of researching all my roots. But for now I believe that clan cian is possibly the clan that I would be connected to. My maternal Grandmother was Maggie Gallagher who came from Ireland in 1876 and my paternal Grandmother was Lily Dora Doyle and my surname is Hayes. And we know that they came from Ireland.
